Kenya Nyeri Star Chiga Cooperative SL28 & SL34 AA Micro-lot Natural Coffee Beans

This coffee comes from the Chiga Cooperative in the Nyeri region of Kenya, SL28 and SL34 varieties, AA grade micro-lot, natural processed. Nyeri is one of Kenya’s most famous specialty regions, known for high-altitude volcanic soil and quality coffee. SL28 and SL34 are classic Kenyan varieties prized for bright acidity and complex sweetness. Natural processing is relatively rare in Kenya and retains more fruit and sweetness.

Cupping notes are sweet and full: prominent berry and grape juice upfront, followed by acacia honey and honey sweetness, finishing with delicate florals and soft cocoa aftertaste. Sweetness is full, acidity is soft, and the body is rounded and smooth — like sipping fresh berry honey tea.

Rias champion team uses a medium-light roast to preserve the fruit character and sweetness. Excellent in pour-over, cold brew, and espresso.

Pour-over Brewing Suggestion

  • Ratio:1:16 (15g coffee to 240g water)
  • Water Temperature:88–92°C
  • Grind Size:Medium-fine
  • Brewing Steps: Bloom 40–45 seconds, 4 pours, total time 2:50–3:10
  • Recommended Brewer:Hario V60 or Origami Dripper

Brewing Tip:To fully express the berry, grape and acacia honey notes, use lower water temperature and longer bloom time.

Perfect for lovers of sweet fruit, soft acidity, and rare Kenyan naturals. Highly recommended for those seeking SL28/SL34 micro-lot naturals.
